Mike Grinnell is the Principal of Grinnell Consulting. His career began in the construction industry with a firm in Georgia, before relocating to Washington, DC to take on bigger challenges at one of the nation’s largest construction firms. He ascended to Senior Superintendent, working on notable projects such as the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the International Monetary Fund Headquarters, and the University of Maryland Football Stadium expansion. He also worked on secure projects like the renovation of the New Executive Office Building in the White House Complex and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency headquarters.

In 2016, Mr. Grinnell transitioned to consultancy, joining one of the world’s largest design firms. He consulted on global projects in various roles as a subject matter expert, serving clients like NAVFAC, USACE, the Smithsonian, the National Institute of Health, the British Embassy, and the Architect of the Capitol. He earned repeat engagements with the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Bureau of Operations, where he authored the bureau’s Integrated Master Schedule Policy, developed the Template Update Cycle overseeing Scheduling Standards for over 100 projects annually, authored more than a dozen constructability reviews, conducted risk analysis with Monte Carlo Simulations, and served as a subject matter expert on Value Engineering Teams and Technical Evaluation Panels.

Now leading Grinnell Consulting, a firm specializing in Risk, Schedule, Planning, and Value Engineering, Mr. Grinnell brings experience across six continents and over 100 cities. The firm is ready to partner with clients to tackle their project’s most significant challenges.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Auburn University and two graduate certificates from Virginia Tech in Urban Planning: Metropolitan Studies and Economic Development. He resides in Northern Virginia with his family. In his free time, he has coached his daughters’ soccer and volleyball teams and is working towards completing an endurance event in every state.
